Two MCU Icons Starred In Acclaimed TV Episode, But Never Shared The Screen

Two MCU icons have starred in a critically acclaimed TV series, in the same episode, but have never shared the same screen.

The MCU has a ton of memorable characters played by a whole host of fantastic actors, such as Chris Evans’ Captain America, Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, to name a few.

With so many actors who have featured in the MCU since it first began in 2008, it should come as no surprise that paths have been crossed outside the world of Marvel.

For example, one movie that comes to mind is 2008’s The Hurt Locker, a fictional but brutal portrayal of the Iraq war.

The Hurt Locker stars Anthony Mackie (Falcon/Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Evangeline Lilly (Wasp), Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian), and all of those actors have starred in the MCU, whether it’s once or multiple times.

Furthermore, one of the actors mentioned above, Anthony Mackie, stars in the hit sci-fi, dystopian Netflix series Black Mirror, and in one episode, Pom Klementieff also stars, best known for her role as Mantis in the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Both Anthony Mackie and Pom Klementieff starred in season five, episode one, ‘Striking Vipers’.

The reason why both actors never shared the same screen is that Anthony Mackie’s character is a real person, and Pom Klementieff is a virtual character of his best mate in a VR world. It’s all very weird and very Black Mirror.

So there you have it, there’s a fun, entangled MCU story to fry your brain today. You’re welcome. Season seven of Black Mirror is available to stream on Netflix right now.

Hopefully, we’ll see Anthony Mackie and Pom Klementieff share the screen plenty more times in the Multiverse saga as we build up to the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, set to be released in cinemas on 17 December 2027.
