Scarlet Witch has finally returned to the MCU, but it’s not in the way we’d have hoped. Still nice to have her back though.
Before and during the events of Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness, Wanda Maximoff went off the rails and fully embraced her destiny as the Scarlet Witch.
While she did eventually see the error of her ways it was believed to be too late for her to redeem herself, leading to a somewhat noble end as she allowed her temple to collapse on top of her, apparently killing her.
This is Marvel though, so in all likelihood, she’s not dead and will reappear either during or after the next Avengers films. My personal theory is she’s been transported to whichever universe Doctor Doom is from and will be an important part of his plan to traverse and control the multiverse.

Before we find out though, the Scarlet Witch is returning to our screens sooner than we thought, through a zombified variant in Marvel Zombies.
She was seen during the trailer amongst other Marvel heroes who’ve fallen to the undead plague, first set-up during What If..?
Now a team of zombified Avengers is already a world-ending threat but a zombified Wanda is arguably much, much worse. In the What If..? series, we saw Strange Supreme summon her to battle and delay Ultron, who’d acquired all six infinity stones and transcended to godhood. Despite his overwhelming power, she actually managed to slow him down quite a bit, which is an impressive feat.
It makes you wonder how the surviving heroes will fare against her, though many fans think they spotted Thor in the trailer, so perhaps we’re building up to a showdown between God and Goddess.

Marvel viewers commented on Scarlet Witch’s reappearance on Reddit, as well as a zombified Namor who’ll also be making an appearance.
The prevailing theory is no one is going to be able to defeat Wanda, and she’ll be a threat our heroes need to escape rather than fight. That said, I'd like to see Blade have a go at dispatching her.
One good question that was raised is how she’s in the show at all… When Strange Supreme summoned her, it’s believed she was the same Wanda we’d seen in the zombie episode, so how exactly did she get back if it’s the same universe?
Guess we’ll find out when Marvel Zombies drops on 24 September. The show will be released in four parts though it was originally intended to be a film, so I’d recommend watching them all in one go.
