Marvel fans losing their minds over MCU's new X-Men teaser

Blame the multiverse

With the final season of Marvel’s What If…? debuting on 22 December, we’re starting to get some sneak peeks of scenes from the show.

One has Marvel fans incredibly excited as it gives us a look at one of the legendary X-Men in the MCU, but of course, it comes with a twist.

Marvel's What If...? will be here very soon with a multiverse twist on heroes we love

In a new screenshot, we got a glimpse of Storm, not in her usual role of X-Men hero, but as the Goddess of Thunder, taking over the mantle from Thor.

She’s even wielding Mjölnir.

Fans are equal parts thrilled and shocked to see her in this new role, speculating wildly as to what the story will tell us about this multiversal change.

Perhaps most exciting is that Storm will be voiced by Alison Sealy-Smith, who plays the same role in X-Men ‘97.

If you haven’t watched X-Men ‘97, why are you still here reading this and not on Disney+ rectifying your mistake?

Seriously, this Redditor agrees with me, “If you’re here, and you still haven’t watched X-Men ’97 stop what you’re doing and do it now.”

“Holy s**t, this is cool,” says TheFreakyFella over on Reddit.

Of course, the episode is yet to air so we can only speculate on how Storm took on the title of Goddess of Thunder, but it makes a lot of sense.

She does control thunder and lightning, after all.

Some fans are wondering how Storm can appear here when the X-Men haven’t yet debuted in the MCU.

“Easy, it’s the multiverse, ain’t gotta explain,” says one fan, while another comments, “Ah, but what if in one branch of the multiverse, she did debut in the MCU?”

This could also be a major tease for fans as we know the X-Men are on the way to the big screen and perhaps Storm will be one of the first we meet.
