MCU X-Men recast officially confirmed with younger actors

Straight from the mouth of Kevin Feige

MCU boss Kevin Feige himself has confirmed that the familiar faces of the 20th Century Fox X-Men films will not be making a return in the new movies, and they’ll be getting replaced by much younger actors.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s head honcho, Kevin Feige, has been on a bit of an interview tear recently.

He’s been explaining why Blade is taking so long, what we can expect from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and even just straight up spoiling what’s going to happen at the end of Avengers: Secret Wars.

Huh, this reminds me of another article I wrote recently about Disney spoiling everything that’s going to happen in the MCU… but I digress.

Point being, he recently revealed in a new interview with Comic Book Resources’ Michael Hein exactly what we can expect from the MCU’s X-Men reboot, and it sounds like we won’t be hearing back from the likes of Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart post-Avengers: Secret Wars.

“It’s official, Jake Schreier is doing X-Men for us, and we’re very, very lucky,” Feige revealed to CBR.

“And we’re very, very lucky to have him and very excited to have him. And so we’re beginning. It’s all starting now. The script’s underway.”

Oh, but he didn’t stop there, as Feige went on to confirm that the entire cast of characters will be getting replaced with a “very youth-oriented” pool of actors.

“We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts*. And if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions, he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic,” Feige continued.

“He’s younger than me for sure, but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think was important for Thunderbolts*, much more important for X-Men. Because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused and cast movie.”

To be expected, I suppose.

He did also speak about recasting the entirety of the MCU recently anyway, so we shouldn’t expect a lot of actors to be holding onto these roles until the end of time.

Still, I hope the likes of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender get their chance to shine in Avengers: Doomsday.
