MCU boss Kevin Feige may have just dropped a major spoiler for Fantastic Four, and we’re not sure what to make of it.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has its premiere today, and the full release of the Marvel film comes a few days later on 25th July.
The plot revolves around the titular team in an alternate world coming up against a worldwide threat made by Galactus, a planet-devouring cosmic being who has targeted Earth next.
Aside from that, a large part of the plot for Fantastic Four has been kept under wraps, and there’s likely going to be a few more surprises than the trailers let on.

We’ll drop a precautionary spoiler warning here for The Fantastic Four: First Steps (and, I guess, Avengers: Doomsday), but considering we haven't even seen the film yet, I’m not sure what it could imply exactly.
In an interview with Comic Book, Feige commented on the production of Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently ongoing: “We will see this world that we’ve introduced (in First Steps). We’re shooting on all the same sets that we built for Fantastic Four, and it is very fun.
“I would say the now iconic Baxter Building living room and kitchen where we saw the Four get to know each other in this movie, let’s say there are a lot more people in that kitchen in Avengers, and it’s fun to literally see people coming into each other’s homes, which is pretty awesome.”
Feige is being very selective with his words, but it could have a few big implications for what this means in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday.

Of course, this might not be the case. We know from the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts* that the Fantastic Four eventually make their way over into the main universe of the MCU, presumably to escape Galactus. So it might be weird for them to go back in the next film.
At face value, this statement could mean that several characters from the Avengers could make their way into Fantastic Four’s alternate universe, implying that the titular team manage to defeat Galactus at the end of the film.
So, perhaps there is some other kind of work at play here to bring characters back to the Baxter Building.
Whether that’s a simple flashback, or some kind of multiverse shenanigans, I guess we’ll know more when both films are out.
