Avengers: Doomsday Will Miss Out on Major MCU Team, Worse For It

Bring them all back we say

The release of Avengers: Doomsday is a huge one for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whatever way you slice it, with expectations high pretty much across the board at this point.

On the business side of things, many of the more recent releases in the MCU have proved to be a bit of a disappointment, failing to accrue anything like the numbers that they were pulling in before Avengers: Endgame.

In terms of the ongoing story, the release of Doomsday is set to serve as a major moment, bringing together many of the franchise's biggest characters once again, as well as returning some we thought we may never see again.

Not everyone will be coming back though, and one squad in particular is set to miss out on all the action in the upcoming epic.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Likely Won't Appear in Avengers: Doomsday

Over on Reddit, one user asked the MCU fan base whether the always exciting Guardians of the Galaxy were likely to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and it isn't good news if you're a fan.

As the top comment points out, most of the squad is set to miss out, though one big character could yet make an appearance.

"Quill is probably showing up in Doomsday he was featured in 2 of the leaked concept art. Rocket's new Guardians team might show up in Secret Wars. Drax, Gamora and Mantis are definitely done with marvel now," the post reads.

Given the rumours and leaks around the film, this is the most likely potential future, though Gamora's fate in the MCU is a little more open-ended than that comment makes out.

It's also worth remembering that the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 closes by telling all of us that "The Legendary Star Lord will return," so hopefully they hold true to that promise and we get at least one Guardian in Doomsday.

As another comment points out, commercial concerns likely mean that we're far from done with the Guardians of the Galaxy moving forward.

"It's one of their most dependable franchises, especially amongst casual fans. There will be at least a meaningful reference for future projects even if the OG team itself is disbanded," it reads.

In any case, we'll get to find out later this year when the film finally drops, and with Downey Jr. back in the mix, we're betting that it's going to be fairly epic.
