MCU boss Kevin Feige has dished the dirt on everything Avengers: Secret Wars and the upcoming X-Men film in a recent interview, and it sounds an awful lot like he’s implying that every actor in the franchise will eventually be recast.
It’s a pretty obvious side effect of, y’know, the whole life thing, but people start to do this crazy thing where they age.
The likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans may not be old by any stretch of the imagination, but eventually they will quite literally age out of their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Well, Marvel and Disney boss Kevin Feige has been oddly transparent about this eventuality in a recent interview with Variety’s Adam B. Vary and Angelique Jackson (although he had a little bit to spoil about both Avengers: Secret Wars and X-Men beforehand).

“We’re utilizing that [story] not just to round out the stories we’ve been telling post-‘Endgame,’ just as importantly — and you can look at the at the ‘Secret Wars’ comics for where that takes you — it very, very much sets us up for the future,” Feige revealed to Variety.
“‘Endgame,’ literally, was about endings. ‘Secret Wars’ is about is about beginnings.”
“Reboot is a scary word,” he continued. “Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we’re thinking along those lines… ‘X-Men’ is where that will happen next.”
However, it wasn’t until Feige started talking about DC and Warner Bros.’ latest superhero film, Superman, that he truly began to cover the chances of the OG MCU actors disappearing from our screens.

“Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now searching for a new James Bond,” Feige contunued, “David [Corenswet], the new Superman — he was awesome. That will always be the case.”
“I think it’s hard for anybody to do that when an actor has done such a great role… How are they going to ever replace Sean Connery [as James Bond], right?”
It might seem obvious to some of you, but it’ll be a hard pill to swallow for others.
Actors do eventually age out of roles, and while they can always return as cameos down the line, the physicality required to perform superhero characters can simply be too much for someone in their later years.

Personally, I’m just glad Feige has confirmed that they will be recast, opposed to having them live on as AI monstrosities until the end of time.
