The new Avengers: Doomsday film may or may not feature Wolverine, but which version of the character should we see next?
Hugh Jackman has been playing the role of Wolverine for years and just when you thought he’d put away the claws for good, he returned in Deadpool & Wolverine, along with a joke from Deadpool himself saying Marvel is going to make Jackman play the character till he’s 90.
Funny quips aside, that genuinely looks to be the case as it’s believed Jackman is returning as the character once again for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Some behind-the-scenes images have confirmed that certain scenes in Avengers: Doomsday will take place at X-Mansion, with characters like Cyclops and Magneto returning to presumably help in the fight against Doctor Doom.

With the X-Men coming back, it’d make sense for Wolverine to join them, but Hugh Jackman isn’t giving anything away.
In a recent interview he said, “I really can’t say much...And if I did, I would find a really cool way to not say it, but I actually have nothing to add.”
Fans have taken this as a sign he is indeed going to be part of the Marvel crossover, but some aren’t convinced he’ll appear until Avengers: Secret Wars.
“I don't think he or Deadpool will be in it, but 100% they're coming back for Secret Wars,” said one fan in response to the interview
Another added, “Should have lied and outright said you aren’t Hugh because this is fooling nobody!”
Chances are he will appear in the crossover films, presumably as the Wolverine we saw in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Honestly, I think it’d be hilarious if they only appeared at the end. Imagine all the dust settling and the battle being won only to learn Deadpool and Wolverine had just been disinterestedly watching the whole thing, or were supposed to be there but arrived late due to Deadpool not knowing where to go.
It would be nice to see Hugh Jackman stood next to his old X-Men co-stars, so we’ll see what happens.
