Despite the Deadpool franchise being highly successful, Ryan Reynolds has previously revealed that he has no plans to work on any more solo Deadpool movies after 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

This comes even though Deadpool & Wolverine, which saw Reynold’s foul-mouthed merc team up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, earned an impressive $1.338 billion at the box office, making it the top-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Check out a teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine below!

However, Reynolds, who has huge creative control over the character and franchise, has revealed that he will be donning the mask and returning to the role, but it would be more of a supporting role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has plans for the next Deadpool instalment to feature the new X-Men who will be part of the upcoming Marvel reboot.

This would see Deadpool appear in at least some capacity alongside three or four of the new X-Men and give them a chance to shine whilst our Merc with the Mouth takes a back seat.

As part of the Deadpool franchise, this movie will be separate from the upcoming X-Men reboot currently being penned by The Hunger Games’ writer Michael Lesslie.

It is currently unclear which big faces will be taking on the roles of our favourite X-Men in the Marvel reboot but some names have been mentioned on more than one occasion such as Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink as Jean Gray, Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo as Storm, Hunter Schafer as Mystique and Harris Dickinson as Cyclops, to name a few rumours.

This, of course, will not be Reynold’s first dalliance with the X-Men after teaming up with Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The 2024 hit also starred Sabertooth (Tyler Mane) and Pyro (Aaron Stanford) as well as Stefan Kapičić’s Colossus who has regularly starred in the Deadpool series.

It remains to be seen what Reynolds is cooking up behind the scenes but with the actor revealing that he will only work on a Deadpool movie if it has a strong reason to exist, we can be assured that it will have a place in the MCU.

“I hope it is X-Force with Gambit and Wolverine,” one user said over on r/MarvelStudios_Rumours.

The options are endless so let us hope that this plan comes to fruition over the next few years.
