MCU leak teases Sam Wilson's Avengers lineup, and it's very different

Our favourite superheroes are at loggerheads once again with the brand-new Avengers and the New Avengers fighting over the iconic title.

Shown at the end of the recent Marvel Studios’ release, Thunderbolts*, we see that the Thunderbolts* squad (now known as the New Avengers) were having to deal with the wrath of Sam Wilson after discovering their new title.

As the new Captain America, Wilson will be leading the ensemble under the title The Avengers, so you can see why the two superhero groups with the same name would be a bit confusing.

However, with the new Avengers lineup expected to come together for the first time during 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, it is safe to say that both groups will have more to worry about than their name as they face off against Robert Downey Jr. 's Doctor Doom.

That is why a recent report by Marvel insider Daniel Richtman has left fans feeling confused as he reveals one superhero who may be joining Sam and the rest of the Avengers.

Yelena Belova.

Played by Florence Pugh and last seen leading the New Avengers in the after-credit scenes of Thunderbolts*, Richtman has revealed that Belova will actually join Sam’s team.

However, with the Avengers and the New Avengers not currently seeing eye-to-eye, it remains to be seen how and why Yelena could potentially switch sides.

That being said, with both groups set to face a threat to humanity, maybe they put their differences aside and all come together to form Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Sam Wilson is expected to be joined by some familiar faces such as Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Letitia Wright’s Black Panther and of course, our brand-new Fantastic Four.

With the Avengers: Doomsday cast expected to rival that of Avengers: Endgame, it remains to be seen which characters will make up the main Avengers team when the movie hits cinemas on 1 May 2026.

However, if this recent insider information is true, we already know at least one.
