Marvel Cinematic Universe fans aren’t particularly thrilled with how Disney handled the death of one of Marvel’s biggest heroes in a recent film, mostly because they opted to do it in the dumbest way possible.
Do you remember the bit in Deadpool & Wolverine where Ben Affleck’s Daredevil heroically sacrificed himself to save the team? You know, the scene where he leapt to the defence of Elektra and saved her from being killed by Cassandra Nova?
Oh, right, yeah… you probably don’t remember that because, actually, Matt Murdock randomly died off-screen.
We know this because they outright state it in the film, with Elektra even noting that she isn’t particularly fussed by the fact that he died in a random battle that we never actually witnessed.

Over on a Twitter post from user @thecomicdevil detailing how “no one cared” about Daredevil’s death in the film, several users piped up in the replies stating the opposite.
“I cared…” commented user @_Eudera.
“Ben Affleck's Daredevil is so underrated and it feels like the writer’s don’t care bout him that much.”
“I actually cared!” replied user @MarvelFan4222.

“The movie isn’t the best, but the directors cut is pretty good! More of a Matt Murdock movie which is amazing actually.”
Honestly, it was a stupid way to kill the character, but… I kinda get it.
For one, Ben Affleck was probably way too expensive. Even if it was just for a little cameo, I’m not sure Disney would be willing to pay for it.
Also, I think people have forgotten that, between the release of the 2003 Daredevil film and the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Elektra’s actress Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck got married… and then subsequently divorced.

I don’t think there’s any bad blood between them, but I highly doubt either of them wanted to hang out with their exes for however long it would have taken to shoot the film.
