One Iron Man’s biggest stars is coming back to the MCU next month, ahead of their own Disney+ spin-off show that’s set to release in 2026.

As revealed in the trailer for season 3 of the Marvel animated series What If…?, Vision will be returning to the MCU on December 22nd when the show drops on Disney+.

Vision, or more specifically “White Vision” as he’s been dubbed, pops up multiple times throughout the trailer, but he can immediately be seen phasing through a wall in the first couple of seconds.

There aren’t any concrete details regarding Vision’s role in the series, but those who watched WandaVision will have noticed that the character's appearance mimics that of the Vision we last saw during the show’s conclusion.

Although the events of What If…? are mostly not directly tied to the story of the MCU’s main universe, Vision’s look in the show could be setting up something that’s been in the works for several years now; Paul Bettany’s reprisal as the character in the upcoming 2026 series Vision Quest.

It has been a long time since we’ve heard anything regarding Vision Quest, as details regarding the project have been pretty sparse ever since Deadline reported on the show's existence back in 2022.

However, back in 2024, we did get one exciting update regarding its future.

Deadline’s Denise Petski reported that James Spader will be returning for Vision Quest and reprising his role as Ultron, who was last seen in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron (in the main MCU universe, at least).

It’s also been reported that Jac Schaeffer, showrunner for both WandaVision and Agatha All Along, will no longer be overseeing the project as she had to focus on other MCU-related work.

It’s more than likely we will hear more about the project sometime next year, once production on Vision Quest finally begins.
