Marvel brutally killed off a classic hero in the MCU years ago and nobody cared

That was quick!

Marvel killed a classic hero years ago without many of us noticing and those that did, may not have even cared.

There was a time when the Netflix streaming service was the home of live-action Marvel adaptations with the likes of Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage as well as the collaboration series, The Defenders. All of those shows can now be enjoyed on Disney Plus.

Check out the Jessica Jones trailer below!

While many of those series were a bit hit and miss, Daredevil, The Punisher and Jessica Jones were fantastic live-action adaptations, and it’s the latter of which that is today’s topic of discussion.

In the first episode of Jessica Jones season two, there’s a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moment where we see Robert L. Frank aka Whizzer sprint past Jessica Jones, played by the brilliant Krysten Ritter. Whizzer is a relatively unknown Marvel character potentially due to not appearing in recent Marvel media.

The Whizzer made his debut in 1941 during a period known as the 'Golden Age of comic books’ and was later revived by Marvel in the 1970s, but he’d not been seen all that much since, which is why his brief appearance in Jessica Jones was a surprising cameo.

I am about to go into spoilers for episode one of Jessica Jones season two, so you have been warned. During the episode in question, Whizzer was killed by Jessica’s mother, Alisa Jones.

“Why does Whizzer look so funny? It seems out of place since the scene was intense and ended with him getting killed later,” asked Redditor Capital_Tale1597.

“I think it was meant to look intentionally funny, with his running form and all,” replied MarvelousJoe. “When I first saw this, I thought it was meant to be humorous. Then the very abrupt turn brought me back to the gritty reality of The Defenders.”

“Superspeed always looks dumb when it's from anyone but the speedster's perspective,” said a Reddit user with AnonymousDreadlock adding, “This is exactly how Gal Gadot runs in the Wonder Woman movies.”

If you’ve not watched them already, despite varying in quality, I’d highly recommend watching all of the ex-Netflix Marvel shows on Disney Plus, especially with Daredevil: Born Again arriving in 2025.
