It can be hard to keep up with all of the charming cosy titles that are being announced.
That’s especially the case for those that might have got lost in the noise of the recent summer showcase season.
It’s for that reason that I want to bring Croakwood to your attention, a delightful new town-building and management game that should appeal to fans of Animal Crossing.
Developed by Texel Raptor, Croakwood is, perhaps unsurprisingly, set within a frog settlement in a woodland.

Players will design and create homes, decorate the town, grow the frog community, and explore the surrounding ancient forest teased as being full of secrets.
“Deep within the lush and mysterious Croakwood Forest, a tiny community of frogs is ready to put down roots and make the wild woods their home,” the synopsis begins
“Build a thriving woodland settlement as your froggy villagers gather resources, craft supplies, and hop between homes, workshops, and winding forest paths.”
It continues, “Design cosy cottages and charming frog neighbourhoods with a flexible piece-based building system, uncover secrets hidden beneath the canopy, and expand deeper into the forest as your community grows.

“Croakwood blends creative town building, relaxed management, and cozy exploration into a laid-back woodland adventure full of charm, nature, and lively little amphibians.”
The game’s frogs will help you out with your activities; you can watch them gathering wood, for example, or processing materials.
Of course, they will relax by the fire or such like from time to time too.
There are plenty of corners of the town’s surrounding forest that you can explore with various areas to unlock and discover.
You may even find “opportunities for your settlement to grow”.
“Explore the wilderness, unlock new areas, and guide your frog community deeper into the Croakwood,” devs note.
For now, Croakwood is only due to land on PC storefront Steam and it remains without a release date; there’s also no demo available.
However, we do know that Croakwood will be launching its early access period in the near future.
In a post on Steam, devs wrote that they were hoping for Croakwood’s early access period to launch some time between November 2026 and February 2027, although this isn’t a definitive window.
It’s expected that the game will remain in early access for one to two years.
“We expect it's going to take about one to two years to add the content and features that we have planned for the full release but we'll adjust our plans based on the feedback we receive and what the game needs, so this may change,” the post said.
During early access, the team plans to add new decor items and furniture sets, new resources, workshops with production chains, new biomes, new activities for villagers, and new meetable characters.
It sounds like this will be a really interesting project to watch grow over the coming years.
