The Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it will end with following the events of the next two Avengers films.

Now before you get into a panic, what we mean by this is the Multiverse Saga will have finished, and whatever events happened during it will become the foundation for the next phase, whatever it is.

This is significant because the last few films, and probably the next few films, have been quietly setting up a multiversal war.

Originally it would have been Kang pulling the strings but now it’ll be Doctor Doom played by Robert Downey Jr, who fans think will be responsible for the creation of Battleworld and the destruction of several universes.

In a recent interview with Screenrant, Marvel Studios' Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum said “I think that's [what] Secret Wars is going to be an amazing culmination to the saga. I think it's going to make the journey feel like it was a worthwhile.”

Now while we don’t know what’s going to happen in Secret Wars yet, there’s been a great theory being thrown around that it’ll essentially reboot the MCU.

What could happen is instead of one or all universes surviving separately, we could see several universes merge to allow for more crossover being fan-favourite characters.

A good example is the X-Men, whom fans are already selecting the best actors for, as it’d be a bit of a waste to just have them pop up in the MCU universe and say they’ve been there all along, when they clearly haven’t.

Who knows what Marvel has planned for the future, but it’s going to be spectacular whatever it is, and will completely change the MCU as we know it, for better or worse.
