Marvel announces our new 'back to basics' Black Panther

Ultimate Black Panther is set to return next month

While Black Panther’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is uncertain, the character is soon set to return to the world of Marvel Comics as Ultimate Black Panther is preparing to begin its second year.

As reported by ComicBook, that’ll commence next month with the long-awaited release of Issue #13, and the heat is only going to pick up from there.

In March’s Issue #14, we’ll find T’Challa facing off against a new threat, the Progenitor, which will be followed by the debut of a new suit in April’s Issue #15.

It certainly doesn’t sound as if T’Challa is going to get some well-earned time off anytime soon but then if that was the case, there would be no story to tell.

And by the sounds of it, these upcoming tales should delight Marvel fans with their ‘back to basics’ approach.

No Avengers and no multiverse, just a story centred around Black Panther, Vibranium, and a foe with a wish to take down Wakanda.

ICYMI: The MCU will next bring us Captain America: Brave New World on 14 February.

The story resumes, as I said, in Ultimate Black Panther #13 which goes on sale on 19 February.

“With MOON KNIGHT defeated and the Maker’s Council forced to regroup, T’Challa must learn the secrets of vibranium – because his very life and soul are at risk,” the synopsis teases.

“The SORCERER SUPREME can help understand the truth of the terrifying element that built Wakanda, but her aid comes with a price.”

If you’re not up to speed, the Sorcerer Supreme is Clea Strange in this run, hence the ‘her’.

The stakes will then raise in Ultimate Black Panther #14, on sale from 19 March.

Advert

“WHO IS THE PROGENITOR? Black Panther’s dangerous reliance on vibranium becomes even more volatile when an ancient spirit attacks Wakanda! Only the Sorcerer Supreme can help T’Challa save Wakanda – and possibly his soul – from this fiend,” it is teased.

Jumping ahead to 23 April, Ultimate Black Panther #15 will then be released.

In this issue, we welcome “the new Black Panther”.

“Battle-worn and beleaguered, a stripped-down T’Challa must go back to basics to prepare for battle against the new foes who have turned vibranium and its dark counterpart against him.”

Fair to say, we’re seemingly in for a treat. Let the countdown to next month begin.
