A new rumour surrounding the villain for Black Panther 3 has got fans hyped.

So far, two Black Panther movies have been released, and they have received critical acclaim due to their cast, production design, and spectacle.

A miniseries focusing on the Ironheart character is also expected to air on Disney Plus later this year. However, plans for Black Panther 3 are still in the early stages.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever received lots of critical acclaim.

Despite that, there are a few bits of information floating around surrounding the third instalment of Ryan Coogler’s superhero saga.

Denzel Washington spoke last year claiming he’s been in talks for a role in Black Panther 3, and now a new rumour suggests the character he could be playing.

According to ComicBookMovie, industry insider MyTimeToShineH claims that Black Panther 3 will feature Achebe as a villain. It’s possible this will be the role played by Washington.

“Denzel sells me on it, frankly,” wrote one user on Reddit in reaction to the rumour.

Achebe is a character created by Christopher Priest and Mark Texeira in 1999.

Priest has described him as “the Joker to Black Panther’s Batman”, also citing Hans Gruber and Hannibal Lecter as inspirations. That's quite the résumé.

The character also has ties to Mephisto, a recurring opponent of many Marvel characters including Ghost Rider and Spider-Man. So, this could potentially mean Black Panther 3 will have bigger implications for the wider MCU.

Additionally, it’s also claimed Namor will also be coming back for an appearance in Black Panther 3, though it’s currently unknown if the role will be large or small. The character previously appeared in Wakanda Forever.

“I really enjoyed the MCU’s take on Namor so I’m glad he’s coming back,” another user wrote.

“Hopefully there's a crossover with Namor and F4,” a third commenter wrote, citing a possible direction for the story to go. “Or they introduce Storm to connect Avengers to X-Men.”

In other Black Panther news, while Shuri actor Letitia Wright has not confirmed if she’ll be starring in the third film, she has hinted she’ll be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
