Avengers: Doomsday first big teaser isn't what we expected

A hopeful return to form for Marvel?

Our first big teaser for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is here, but it’s not quite what you might expect to hear.

The last five years for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been rocky. Following the release of Avengers: Endgame, fans have noted the new films and shows released by Marvel are a bit of a mixed bag.

To try and get back to the quality of the Infinity Saga, Marvel has brought back the Russo Brothers to direct the upcoming instalments Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

The last Avengers film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe came out in 2019.

Altogether, Marvel is hoping for this finale to the Multiverse Saga to be exciting and massive in an effort to win back fans.

“It’s all in London, we’re shooting them fairly back-to-back,” co-director Joe Russo told Deadline while promoting the Russo Brothers’ upcoming film, The Electric State.

“We’re very excited about it, we found a way into the story that we think is going to be challenging for audiences, challenging for us to execute. It’s really exciting to us, it gets us out of bed to do it.”

That wasn't all he had to say about the film though.

Russo corroborated these thoughts in another comment to The Hollywood Reporter, saying: “I think these movies are going to be a surprise to people. We found a way into the story that’s very exciting to us, but we think is very radical. I think it’s going to challenge audiences.”

It sounds like both Marvel and the Russos are going all out with these two Avengers films.

With filming rumoured to begin in April, expect lots of leaks and speculation. If you’re careful about spoilers, make sure to mute your social media feeds now.

Last year, it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr would be returning to the MCU, this time playing Victor Von Doom.

We also know Benedict Cumberbatch will be returning as Doctor Strange, as will the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Rumours have also circulated that Chris Evans will be making an appearance. His last major Marvel outing saw him retire as Captain America, but he did return for a small cameo as Johnny Storm in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
