Invincible creator seriously hyped over new 'big budget' game adaptation

Robert Kirkman, creator of Invincible, has given an exciting update on the upcoming game adaptation.

If you rewind the clocks a year, you might remember Skybound announcing a big budget video game based on the Invincible animated series.

With the third season of the show just finishing airing, and with Season 4 already in production at Amazon, Kirkman has also given an exciting update on how the video game development is coming along.

Invincible is one of the most popular animated shows on Amazon Prime Video.

Speaking to Dexerto, Kirkman said: “I don’t know what I can say. I think… it’s definitely in the works. It’s definitely cool. I don’t even know if I can say how much of it I’ve seen.”

“I’m gonna play it safe and just say, from what I have seen, I am more excited than I’ve been about anything involving Invincible.”

Considering the show is coming back for a fourth season, it says a lot about the concept for this game that Kirkman is more excited for this than the show.

And taking the comic and show’s visceral bloody action into account, it makes sense why Kirkman would be excited about it.

Taking those bold character designs and putting them into a video game seems like a dream come true for fans.

According to Skybound, the game is being developed in-house with more than 30-plus employees. The studio includes veterans from EA, Amazon Games, and Activision Blizzard.

Skybound Games’ previous projects include publishing deals with The Long Dark and Slime Rancher, as well as supporting on development for The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

Invincible, however, will be the first fully-fledged AAA game developed in-house by the studio.

Aside from this, we don’t have any further details on the game, including whether actors Steven Yeun and J. K. Simmons will be reprising their roles.

We also don’t yet know the release date, or even what platforms Skybound is targeting.

But all things considered, it sounds like this’ll be one worth waiting for, folks.
