breaking news

It is finally here: our first official look at the next The Hunger Games movie and it seems as though we are in store for yet another stunning, yet terrifying experience.
Released earlier this year, author Suzanne Collins added even more lore to The Hunger Games universe by launching Sunrise on the Reaping, giving us a look into a young Haymitch and how he managed to win his own games.
As a prequel to The Hunger Games trilogy, the rights for the Sunrise on the Reaping movie were snapped up right away and now with filming over, fans are eagerly anticipating the film heading to cinemas next year.
Now in the meantime, the first trailer has been released and as a huge The Hunger Games fan, it is everything I wanted and more.

“Let the 50th Hunger Games begin,” the tagline reads as we see some incredible actors take on some of the series’ most iconic roles.
We are introduced to a young Haymitch played by Joseph Zada, a young Effie played by Elle Fanning and even a young Plutarch Heavensbee portrayed by Jesse Plemons.

However, we also meet some brand-new characters who will be joining Haytmitch in the 50th Hunger Games.

This includes Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner and Ben Wang as Wyatt Callow.
Ralph Fiennes will also be giving us our third iteration of President Snow whilst Maya Hawke plays a younger Wiress and Kieran Culkin as a young Caesar Flickerman.
It is one stacked cast and they all seem to perfectly fit the role as we see Haymich approach the brand-new arena for the 50th Hunger Games.
Giving a Sound of Music meets Midsommar appearance, we can only imagine how terrifying this stunning scenery actually is behind the facade and, as a reader of Sunrise on the Reaping, I can safely say it is.

If you are still unsure what Sunrise on the Reaping is actually about, check out the full synopsis below:
“Sunrise on the Reaping explores Panem 24 years before Katniss' saga, starting on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, where a young Haymitch Abernathy participates.”
The rest is definitely something you will need to see for yourself. Even if you have to wait a year to do so.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to hit cinemas on 20 November 2026 and as its a sequel, you do not need to have seen the previous movie adaptations (although you definitely should).
