The Batman Part 2's villains were just teased right under our noses

The signs have always been there

Turn back. Avert your eyes. Spoilers for The Penguin finale are ahead.

The Penguin’s finale has got fans all a flutter, like the wings of a thousand bats. Or maybe we should say owls...

A lot of twists and turns happened as Oz put his plans into motion, some of which seem to heavily hint at who the villains are in The Batman Part II.

When Oz enters the courtroom in episode eight, the curtains hung around the room create a distinct owl shape.

Shows as good as The Penguin are a dying breed.

To the uninitiated, this seems like nothing more than an interior design choice. But if you know your Batman lore well enough, it’s a subtle suggestion dripping with meaning.

The Court of Owls isn’t that shocking a villain when you think about it.

Having appeared in the animated Batman vs. Robin film, the criminal organisation then appeared again in Gotham.

Their prominence varies, but their overarching presence in the DC universe is always felt in one form or another.

Having worked from the shadows orchestrating the events of Gotham for centuries, for them to be the main villain of the next Batman film makes narrative sense.

Moreover, because Oz used cunning manipulation to ensure Sofia’s arrest, his antics have now become well known to the Court.

Unfortunately for Oz, it’s unlikely the Court will want to keep him around considering the way he’s managed to eliminate two notorious crime families.

If he can pull that off, what else can he do?

This thread is one fans would like to see pulled, for it holds much potential in what it could bring to the cinematic side of DC storytelling.

Plus, it would disrupt the predictability of villains like the Joker showing up. As beloved are they may be, such characters are over-utilised.

What a hoot this could end up being. Get it?
