Cyberpunk 2077 fans are losing their minds over a first look at a new sequel that was revealed over the weekend.

Cyberpunk 2077 may have launched in a buggy mess in 2020, but following a ton of patches, content updates, as well as the Phantom Liberty expansion, it eventually became one of the most beloved sci-fi RPGs in years, and now fans cannot wait for its sequel.

However, before the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel arrives, we can look forward to a standalone sequel to a recent and popular Netflix series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 10-episode anime series that is a standalone story from Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells the story of David Martinez, a high-school kid wanting to make a name for himself in Night City, but finds himself on the wrong side of the law after surviving a near-fatal drive-by shooting.

Many fans hoped that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners would return for a second season, and that wish was granted over the weekend. But rather than being a continued story, it will have a new tale of Night City to tell.

“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is in production,” announces the tweet posted by the official account of the anime series.

“It presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077— a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.”

“When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”

“LETS GOOOOO,” yelled airzach, replying to the tweet.

“Best news I’ve seen all day!” declared JaeGamez.

“I'm so happy to hear about this! More Night City stories!” exclaimed ErasureBraht420.

“Awesome. I can't wait for the new season,” said PitPlayfun.

“This is the news we love to see,” replied shonen_network.

At the time of writing, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 does not have a release date, but considering that it’s only just in early production, it might be a year or two away from launching on Netflix.

We’ll keep you updated when a release date for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 drops.
