CD Projekt Red has announced update 2.5 for Cyberpunk 2077, with release set for later this week and a bigger reveal on October 21.
Originally released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has gone through a massive number of changes over the years from its initial botched launch.
Update 2.0 was a huge overhaul to the game which brought in many new features and overhauls, with subsequent patches also adding in a load of new content for players to enjoy.
Now, CD Projekt Red has announced Update 2.5 for Cyberpunk 2077, coinciding with the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and brings with it a load of new stuff.

The exact details of what's awaiting us is unclear, but CDPR has teased that "cyberware customization" and "a new dual-wielding playstyle" will be among the list of new features.
When will Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 be released?
A full breakdown of the patch will air tomorrow on REDstreams, CDPR's own branding for the livestreams it does which shed light on the game and reveal future patches. After that, the patch will launch for the game on October 22, 2026.
The next REDstreams occurs tomorrow, October 21 at 5 PM CEST, on either Twitch, YouTube, or Steam.
The update was announced with some new artwork by Taisei Uchida (Original Art), Yukiko Kakita (Ink & Paint Check), and Yuichiro Tozawa (Special Effects), who were commissioned to create the artwork featured in the update announcement.

The last major update to Cyberpunk 2077 was Update 2.3 which came in June 2025. It added four new vehicles, big improvements to Photo Mode, and other changes to the way lighting was rendered in-game. It also featured new accessibility and quality of life features, along with plenty of bug fixes.
With the reveal that Update 2.5 will feature dual-wielding and cyberware customisation, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 fans are in for a treat as CDPR will add new content that goes beyond simple bug fixes and small changes.
Since the update also heralds the arrival of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, be aware that some of the new content in the patch will likely also include references to the new season. The show is set prior to the events of the game, but that doesn't mean there won't be any way for CDPR to include it in the game.
Still, it looks like CD Projekt Red isn't done with the game just yet, despite previously stating that no more major patches would be coming to Cyberpunk 2077. Considering that it's still got big plans for both it and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt though, we'd say that a lot more is probably on the way.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 airs on Netflix this week, with all ten episodes available to watch from today.
The new season is a standalone sequel to the first season, with brand new characters and a new story being featured.
"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077â a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?" reads the season's official synopsis.
