Cyberpunk 2077 fans are currently excited following an official sequel reveal.
Since the release of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020, CD Projekt Red has expanded the universe with new spin-offs in the years since.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Cyberpunk 2 was in early development, and we have also heard rumours about a potential new expansion for the first game.
Now, CD Projekt Red has announced that its spin-off animated series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is getting a second season.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is described as a “new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077— a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.
“In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”

Edgerunners 2 was initially teased during Netflix Geeked Week last September, but an official reveal did not occur until a panel at Anime Expo 2025, which began on 3rd July earlier this week.
Most of the staff from the first season of Edgerunners are returning. Studio Trigger will once again produce the animation, with Bartosz Sztybor serving as producer and showrunner, Ichigo Kanno as lead character designer, and Masahiko Otsuka as scriptwriter. Kai Ikarashi will direct, and it’ll be his directorial debut.
“If they can craft another Edgerunners crew that was as great as the first crew, then I’m in for the heartbreak,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).
“I keep thinking there's no chance it can be better than season 1 so why bother,” another fan wrote. “But then I remember Phantom Liberty.”

There’s no word yet on when Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will debut. Given the length of time it takes to produce a season of animated television, we wouldn’t expect it until at least 2026 or 2027.
