Geralt is set to return in The Witcher remake, and it may have just gotten a reported release window.
CD Projekt Red is currently working on several major The Witcher games right now, with many of them having much different scales and development pipelines.
First of all, there’s The Witcher IV, the game we’re all excited about, along with alleged new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. There’s also Project Sirius, the multiplayer game set in the Witcher universe.
The company has also greenlit a remake of The Witcher, the original game that came out in 2007, which is being developed in Unreal Engine.

It was supposedly in the early planning stages as of 2022 when it was announced, but things have obviously progressed in the four years since then. However, it may not be as close to release as we think.
The Witcher Remake May Not Be Expected Until 2028, The Witcher IV Coming First
Now, a new report suggests that The Witcher Remake could land in 2028. This rumour comes from Polish investment company Noble Securities, which frequently reports on the goings-on at CD Projekt and its stock.
The reason for this delay is that Fool’s Theory, the company taking charge of development on the remake, is said to be assisting CD Projekt Red with The Witcher IV.
It also may possibly have a hand in the supposed DLC for The Witcher 3, which could account for the remake’s delay to 2028.

It sounds like The Witcher IV will be coming first though, considering its alleged 2027 target. I imagine we’ll probably see it as a cross-gen release if Sony and Microsoft can get their next-gen consoles out without any delays.
The Witcher was the first video game based on the Polish fantasy book series by author Andrzej Sapkowski. It charts the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a skilled monster hunter in a fantasy land known simply as The Continent.
Although the 2007 game was the first game based on the novel series, an attempt to make a game based on The Witcher was also made in the 1990s.
Led by Metropolis Software’s Adrian Chmielarz, who would later work on games like Painkiller and Gears of War, this original version of The Witcher was in development for a time but was eventually cancelled due to the developer juggling too many projects at once. This eventually led to CD Projekt Red picking the game up in the mid-2000s.
