Last week saw CD Projekt RED surprise The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt fans by revealing that it would be introducing cross-platform mod support to the much-loved RPG later this year.

It is clear that CD Projekt RED is still supporting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as much as possible, despite the developer now turning its attention to The Witcher 4 and a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel among a handful of other projects.

As we already know, CDPR added the official REDkit modding toolset for the game over a year ago and now it is waving the flag for console players by adding cross-platform mod support.

Arriving on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles later this year, this mod support will introduce a place where players can create, share and access fellow modder’s works across both consoles and PC.

If you are unfamiliar with the modding world, this will allow you to add a myriad of new content to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt including cosmetics, quests, weapons, quality-of-life improvements, and much more.

Better yet, the majority of user-made mods are free to download.

Not only that but creators will be able to utilise the REDkit modding toolset and share their mods across all platforms when this update drops.

"As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we're excited to share some good news for our players and modders!” the official blog post read.

"Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io."

"Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to share a modding ecosystem," it ended.

With this new update, we can expect tons of new content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which will definitely keep players happy until The Witcher 4 is released.
