The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt fans have gathered to hail the game as a ‘masterpiece’ that is yet to be bettered in the eight years since release.

While we may not all agree that The Witcher 3 is definitively the best game of the last eight years, it is most definitely a strong contender for the title. If you’re a PlayStation Plus premium tier subscriber, you can actually sample a free trial of the RPG right now. For you seasoned fans, yes, the wait for The Witcher 4 continues. With Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty imminently releasing though, it’s been confirmed that development efforts at CDPR will now fully shift over to the next Witcher instalment. In the meantime, fans are discussing what a stellar title The Witcher 3 is.

Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, take a look at the expansion in action below.

Reddit user AinsleyHarriott64 kicked off the conversation, writing, “Eight years later and we still don't have anything better than The Witcher 3, not even close. This game destroyed gaming for me forever. I'll probably die without seeing anything that surpasses this masterpiece.” Don’t give up hope, my guy. I’m sure plenty of stellar games are on the way.

Many agreed though that The Witcher 3 is epic. User newbiegainz00 said, “Witcher [3] is still my favourite game of all time and it’s just something really special. That being said, we RPG fans are eating with quality games recently,” while Jaycray95 added, “I’ve played some good games since then but nothing compares. Kinda going through the same thing with TV [right now]. Just finished One Piece [and] now I'm sad.”

Others said they felt exactly the same way until they played the stellar Baldur’s Gate 3 which is out now on PC and PlayStation 5. The Xbox version is due to launch later this year. It’s well worth giving a go if you’re an RPG fan.
