The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has already welcomed a new-gen upgrade, but what if I said that you could tease even more out of the game?

The only catch here is that you’ll want to do so via the world of modding, so this is a PC only affair.

If you do have a copy of The Witcher 3 on PC though, you may be interested in checking out ‘New Gameplay Overhaul (E3 Inspired) Next Gen’ which is exactly what it sounds like.

Created via NexusMods user bulkane, this mod upgrades the game’s gameplay but specifically based on the demo that was released during E3 in 2018.

It’s not unusual for demos to appear slightly more polished.

It’s easier for developers to fine tune a contained five-minute demo than it is a 50-plus hour full game.

You can take a look at CD Projekt RED’s new-gen upgrade in action below.

The mod removes finishers for instakill and knockdown, with Geralt instead focusing on dismemberment.

There is less slow motion and fewer long range spins, while sword combat has been made more fluid.

The mod cuts down on comments made on weather, combat, and monster nests, but controller vibrations have been intensified when you land blows on enemies.

Fall damage has been removed while camera shakes have been enabled on all the attack situations.

You can view the mod’s full patch notes via its NexusMods listing.

Yes, in some areas, this mod simplifies the game, bringing it in line with that E3 demo, but that’s not exactly a bad thing.

Occasionally, less is more, and it appears that modder bulkane is going for a more intensified experience.

That original E3 demo garnered a hefty amount of praise when it debuted, so I have no doubt that many will enjoy downloading this mod for a nostalgic fix.

If you’re on console, I’m afraid you’ll have to await The Witcher 4 if you yearn for something new.

We don’t know exactly when the game is due to be released but it has at least been revealed.
