With CD Projekt Red releasing its official modding tools last month, The Witcher 3’s modding community is creating like never before and we just can’t keep up.

Released in May, the REDkit mod tools released by The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red will allow its faithful modding community to create mods which were once impossible (or a lot more difficult).

Since then, modders have brought the original The Witcher to The Witcher 3 with brand-new map expansions, worked on new graphical enhancements and even used these new mods to recreate the original 2007 title.

As a result, thousands of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PC players have been flocking to Nexus Mods to get their hands on the newest additions and with hundreds to choose from already, the game is about to get another resurgence.

Some of the most downloaded mods over the last 30 days include NextGen Better FX which adds “more sparks, more/better smoke, everything covered in blood, better clouds and fog FX”. This boost to the game’s graphics will make a vast improvement despite only consisting of a few tweaks.

The Music Replacer Project mod does what it says on the tin and replaces music from The Witcher 3 with songs taken from The Witcher and The Witcher 2 as well as some tracks which were not used and have been discovered in the game’s files.

The TheWhiteOne Atmospheric Reshade adds a slight recolour to the game to give a “mix of realism and fantasy”. This will bring the game’s vast map to life even more and is a good mod to start off with if you’re new to modding as a whole.

These are just some of the most popular mods available for The Witcher 3 right now but it is expected that hundreds more will follow in upcoming months.
