It may feel as though The Elder Scrolls 6 is never going to arrive but when it does, we now at least know that Todd Howard has plans for it to be playable for a very long time.

If there is one thing about Bethesda titles (at least the most popular ones), they are going to be played for years after release. From The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Fallout 4, the RPGs are still being played to this day with fans finding new and unique ways to approach their playthroughs.

However, in a recent interview between Bethesda head Todd Howard and Youtuber MrMattyPlays, Howard laments that there should have been more support for Skyrim and Fallout 4 and that is something that the team is going to focus on going forward.

As a result, a long-term approach is being implemented for The Elder Scrolls 6. Although Howard didn’t elaborate any further on what this support could entail, the plan is to make the upcoming RPG playable for a long period of time with the team’s support.

Despite DLCs and next-gen updates being added to Skyrim and Fallout 4, the majority of the content added in recent years has been courtesy of the modding community. However, it seems as though Howard wants Bethesda itself to be involved every step of the way from now on.

“We know people are going to play [The Elder Scrolls 6] for a long time," Howard said. "A game like that is not just what it means for content, it goes further than that in the type of game.

What it means for your character, what it means for other things to say, 'Hey, can this be something that you come back to?' We see that with Skyrim and what people do in the game today. Even though it's popular, what are people doing when they come back to the game after putting it down for a few years?"

Until then, fans are still eagerly awaiting news of The Elder Scrolls 6 which was first announced back in 2018.
