The Elder Scrolls 6 open world size leaves fans divided

Could it be even larger than Skyrim?

The Elder Scrolls VI may be in development but with Bethesda seemingly keeping the whole project a secret, it is up to fans to guess at what the highly-anticipated entry could feature.

It has been six years since Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI would be happening but other than a short teaser trailer, news has been non-existent concerning the Skyrim sequel.

With fans left wondering if we will ever see it released, many have taken to social media to discuss what the delay may be due to.

Over on r/TESVI, a discussion was sparked over the potential map size for The Elder Scrolls VI with many believing that it may be the biggest one of the series so far.

“How big do you want the map for TESVI to be?” the original post read.

“Oblivion and Skyrim were roughly the same size. I think it’s time for the map to be quite a bit larger (around 3x Skyrim), especially considering the game will likely be set in Hammerfell and High Rock."

"Another big reason why the map needs to be larger is because I don’t want the Alik’r desert and High Rock’s peninsula to feel like small insignificant landmarks.”

What followed were almost 50 comments discussing the map’s potential size and as you can imagine, everybody had their own opinion.

“Twice that of Skyrim could maybe be good, if they also spread out the landmarks a bit more,” one comment read.

“The TES series has long been complimented for their open world design, but these days they feel a bit cramped. On the other hand, big maps aren't great in and of themselves and quickly feel lifeless and boring. Also, the more cities there are, the smaller they're gonna be.”

Another said: “I prefer denser maps. The only reason for them to have a map 3x the size is if they have 3x as much stuff in it.”

Answers ranged from double the size of Skyrim’s map to some even happy with it staying the same.

Regardless, it may be a while until we find out how big The Elder Scrolls VI will actually be as Bethesda continues to stay tight-lipped.
