The Elder Scrolls VI is still a “long way off” according to Todd Howard.
And yes, I’m sorry, that quote came from a comment made just a few days ago.
Bethesda’s highly anticipated follow-up to Skyrim is internally playable, but it doesn’t sound as if we’re going to get a re-reveal this year as so many of us were expecting might happen.
The Elder Scrolls VI is still likely years away. I don’t know about you but a “long way off” is upwards of two years in my book.

It’s a very good job then that Bethesda has just dropped the next best thing for free.
The Elder Scrolls Online Is Joining PlayStation Plus
PlayStation Plus’ March line-up has been confirmed for the essential tier, which is available to all subscribers.
Alongside PGA Tour 2K25, Monster Hunter Rise, and Slime Rancher 2, all PlayStation Plus subscribers will soon be able to download The Elder Scrolls Online at no extra cost.
Available to both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 users, it’s The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road Collection that’ll become available on Tuesday 3 March.
That essentially means that you’re getting both the base game and the bonus Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr, Greymoor, Blackwood, High Isle, Necrom, and Gold Road chapters.
That collection can still set you back £59.99 for a physical copy, so this is a great inclusion on PlayStation Plus.
The Elder Scrolls VI Online has always been a good spin-off, but it’s certainly come on leaps and bounds in recent years.
It’s clear that Bethesda and ZeniMax are aware that fans of the franchise need content in order to tide them over amidst this drought.

The title simply adjusts the classic Elder Scrolls formula, turning it into a huge MMORPG where you can embark on adventures solo or with friends.
It’s The Perfect Time To Join The Game Ahead of a Soft Reset
We actually had the opportunity to preview the game’s 2026 roadmap which will introduce seasons and move away from the current formula.
Each season will last for three months and have its own theme. The first, Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk, will begin on 2 April.
You will need to purchase a season pass in order to enjoy all of the content on offer; that won’t be included in the PlayStation Plus version automatically.
Still, my point is that there’s really no better time to try The Elder Scrolls Online out.
If this doesn’t float your boat, I’d direct your attention towards Slime Rancher 2 which is also joining the essential tier next week.
It’s a charming cosy life sim that launched last year that’s incredibly underrated - and no, you don’t need to have played the first one.
It follows Beatrix LaBeau who journeys across the Slime Sea to Rainbow Island to set up a cosy new life whilst uncovering ancient myseries.
The new line-up will become available on 3 March.
