Once upon a time, The Elder Scrolls VI might’ve been considered a surefire success. However, it may be in for a rocky launch.
The highly anticipated follow-up to Skyrim remains deep in development, with very little having been unveiled outside of the game’s brief reveal trailer that landed in 2018.
It’s expected to surface sometime in the next couple of years, but it’s looking as if The Elder Scrolls VI may be a tougher sell than Bethesda is perhaps expecting.
It’s no secret that Starfield proved to be more polarising than many assumed it would be.
While it’s a pretty decent game, The Elder Scrolls fans just failed to gel with it, wishing instead that Bethesda had stuck to developing its crowning established IP.

For years now, Starfield has been disregarded by many, with fans choosing to instead wait for The Elder Scrolls VI.

There’s been a slight shift for the worse, though, following the release of Starfield’s latest update and PS5 port with many Bethesda fans now not even convinced that The Elder Scrolls VI can deliver.
Starfield recently landed on PlayStation 5, with the Free Lanes update and Terran Armada DLC launching across all platforms.
The PS5 port has been slated for its various bugs and glitches with many players experiencing major crashes.
The DLC has also drawn criticism for its general lack of wow factor to the point where some users have been put off the idea of The Elder Scrolls VI.
“I have now finished the new Starfield DLC,” remarked Twitter/X user TheChowderhead.
“I have learned I cannot purchase The Elder Scrolls VI. I cannot trust this company to make a game that makes me want to play it. I cannot trust the company that made Oblivion to make an RPG. I am, frankly appalled with what I played.”
He continued, “The new DLC adds, to the best of my knowledge, a single new enemy type: A humanoid robot. It adds five, maybe six new guns. Of the nine or so story quests, six of them were Radiant. I fought to blow up the same spaceship, no joke, four of those six times.”
TheChowderhead isn’t the only one feeling a tad let down.
“The best Elder Scrolls content is literally Tamriel Rebuilt (mod) for Morrowind, and the best 3D Fallout was made by Obsidian. At this point, the games only live on through the community,” replied cachorrinho.
“Absolute slop company and frankly it's been churning out slop for a long time now,” added AyatollahJeb.

Of course, I’d urge you to give The Elder Scrolls VI the benefit of the doubt; there are lessons to be learned from Starfield for Bethesda, I’m sure.
Here’s to hoping The Elder Scrolls VI gets things back on track, but that’s perhaps a tougher goal than originally envisioned.
