For those of you a little impatient for The Elder Scrolls VI, this upcoming new game might be a good alternative to keep you settled.

Laps Games’ Valorborn has been compared to the likes of Valheim and SimCity, but it may also be a decent alternative for The Elder Scrolls fans.

I mean, it’s not like we’re going to be getting the sixth game just yet, right? Even Skyblivion seems to keep getting delayed.

In Valorborn, you “dive into a living medieval fantasy sandbox RPG where the world lives and acts with or without you,” which means that “villagers follow routines, factions compete for power, dangers roam the land, and every decision can create opportunity or disaster.”

The Steam description says that you can “Become a thief, hunter, or sellsword. Travel alone or build a party. Hunt, steal, trade, fight, and survive in a fully enterable world where every building, cave, and road can become part of your story.”

In case that tickles your fancy, you won’t have long until you can check out Valorborn for yourself.

Valorborn Is Targeting A Release For PC On 15 April

As revealed during IGN Fan Fest last week, Valorborn will be releasing on PC on 15 April. It’ll be launching as a Steam Early Access release as well, so expect a series of updates to follow.

As for why Laps Games has gone for early access for this game, it says that “We aim to continually expand this world and enrich the game universe."

"Our goal is to create new stories to experience and new adventures to tell within the game. We would like to work closely with the community throughout this process.”

The developer also declares that updates will be planned to drop roughly every 3–4 months, and that the 1.0 version should drop after at least one year of updates.

The full version of the game will “expand the game with new features, expand the map, side stories, new characters, and environments,” and will also feature a price increase upon hitting the 1.0 version.

Altogether, I like the sound of it blending RPG elements with city-building and management gameplay.

It should be a good one that'll scratch that Valheim itch, or maybe even the life sim side of Skyrim.

If you fancy checking out Valorborn ahead of its 15 April early access launch, you can head over to Steam and read more about it there.
