With Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC finally here, it has got Bethesda fans thinking about what this hand-crafted experience could mean for The Elder Scrolls 6.

Released just a few days ago, Starfield’s first DLC Shattered Space is making headlines and not for the reasons Bethesda may have hoped.

With the DLC getting mixed reviews much like Starfield itself, it has made those eagerly anticipating the release of The Elder Scrolls VI quite worried.

It has officially been six years since The Elder Scrolls VI was first announced and other than a very brief teaser trailer, Bethesda has remained quite tight-lipped about the next entry in the series.

However, with Shattered Space now out in the world, it is safe to assume that more developers will be turning their attention to TES VI, even if expectations are lower than ever.

“For those who played Starfield's handcrafted DLC map, how are your expectations for exploration in TESVI?” One user recently asked over on r/TESVI.

“Have your expectations changed after Shattered Space?”

What followed was a discussion about how Shattered Space’s focus on environment could bode well for The Elder Scrolls VI.

“If ES6 is a singular open world, I have no doubt it'll be great,” one comment read.

“Shattered Space proves BGS still knows how to craft excellent worlds with an amazing atmosphere & that sense of wanting to explore. I love the art direction & exploration aspect overall.”

Another user recognised that despite being by the same studio, the two games are very different.

“TESVI and SF are very different games.

Starfield is meant to be vast and exploration based. While TESVI is meant to immerse you in the landscapes of whatever province(s) we end up with.

Skyrim beats Starfield just really in terms of landscape/environment and the QUALITY of the side quests. Main quests in every Bethesda game are kinda subpar IMO.”

With fans eagerly anticipating The Elder Scrolls VI, it remains to be seen if Bethesda’s experience with Starfield will have a positive or negative effect on its next release.
