When you think about it, The Day Before is a really ironic name for a game that’s been delayed multiple times.
Developed by Fntastic, The Day Before is an “open-world MMO survival set in a deadly, post-pandemic America overrun by flesh-hungry infected and survivors killing each other for food, weapons, and cars”. Your character wakes up with no memories, completely alone, and sets out in search of answers (and more importantly, to survive). Sounds pretty good, right?
Take a look at the trailer for The Day Before below.
Originally, the game was supposed to launch on 21 June 2022, but was delayed to 1 March 2023 so that the devs could make the switch to Unreal Engine 5 and make the gameplay look shinier than ever. At the time, millions had already added the game to their Steam wishlists, so there were a lot of disappointed fans.

However, with less than two months to go until that planned release date, the title has been delayed yet again. Last week, Fntastic announced that The Day Before has been pushed back to 10 November 2023 as a result of someone else trademarking the game’s name. It’s all a bit strange, and fans are getting more and more concerned.
As highlighted by YouTuber Skill Up on Twitter, even the lead mod of the game’s Discord server has seemingly started to question if the game actually exists. In one screenshotted message, they said: “Those who wonder if the game is real, I’m wondering the same right now as well.” They later added that they still haven’t seen the raw gameplay footage that was supposed to be revealed this month (this was also pushed back due to the trademark issue).
Fntastic has since responded to these concerns. “The storm will calm down eventually, and time will put everything in its place. When the game comes out, people will finally see the truth,” it said (via IGN). “But while we're here, we're grateful for such a fantastic journey and for you being with us.”

How bizarre. Hopefully, the game will hit its new release date this November so we can finally see what all the fuss is about.
