Take it one step at a time

Steam users can download and play one of the strangest games to release in years ahead of its highly anticipated full launch.

Existing almost as its own entity away from the shackles of major AAA publishers, indie game developers, most often that not, can create whatever video game their minds and talents allow.

As a result, we can get some of the most creative video games that stand the test of time. Indie games such as Stardew Valley, Celeste and Fez, to name a few, are considered to be amongst the greatest of all time.

One such game that will no doubt aim to achieve indie greatness is the upcoming Baby Steps, announced in 2023, published by Devolver Digital.

“Play as Nate, an unemployed failson with nothing going for him, until one day he discovers a power he never knew he had… putting one foot in front of the other,” reads the synopsis of Baby Steps on Steam. “Explore the first chapter in this demo where one slip isn’t a setback, just a new path forward.”

Baby Steps might not be out for another couple of months, but you can play a sample of the game right now by downloading its free demo via Steam.

In the Steam user reviews section, it looks like Baby Steps is going down a treat with the community.

“The dry Aussie humour and random stupidity of this game is such a delight,” wrote Grumpette.

“Absolutely spectacular, especially for a demo,” declared Ezyntalli

“Why is this so addicting! I MUST EXPLORE MORE! One step at a time....,” yelled Emblazon.

“This demo was fun and hilarious to play. Who knew walking was so hard?” exclaimed Shredfactor.

“I loved the demo. I am so buying this day one,” revealed Viral.

Baby Steps will be released on PC and PlayStation 5 on 8 September 2025.
