If you're in the mood for a free game with a peaceful aesthetic, you may want to look no further than this new puzzle-platformer.
Moonrise is a brand new 3D puzzle-platformer where it's not just about the puzzles, but also emphasises the environment.
Released onto Steam this week, fans of Journey or Ico may want to pick up this game as a free title.
"The sun has disappeared, and in its place a tower stands silent; inhabited by small, mysterious creatures that seem to have arrived alongside the darkness. You are the Moon's avatar, and your only way is out," reads the description on Steam for Moonrise.

"Scattered across the structure, these creatures grant your character unique abilities when caught in a beam of light. Each power comes with a catch: they only work in contact with a surface, whether a floor, a wall, a ledge... The world around you isn't just scenery, it's the condition for everything you can do."

As I mentioned before, developer Team Red has cited classic games such as Journey and Ico as inspirations for Moonrise's design.
These games are iconic for their subtracted gameplay design, toned down graphics, and peaceful vibe. They create an experience which feels subdued but significant, which is a feeling that Moonrise will also instil into the player.
The levels are designed as open paths as opposed to linear sequences, so you have a choice in how you want to progress and don't feel railroaded into one specific path.
Although your destination is the same, multiple routes will demand you to learn your abilities and make use of them in different and unique ways.
As Team Red says, "you choose how hard you want it to be," and this applies to how you explore the world of Moonrise.
If you're interested in checking out Moonrise, you can play the game now for free on Steam. Simply head to the store page and click "Add to library" and it'll be available for you to play.
It's an extremely low-spec game as well, requiring only 8GB of RAM, an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, and a NVIDIA GTX 960 to run. So if your PC was made in the last decade, you'll be alright to play it.
