Ambrosia Sky developer Soft Rains has revealed more about the free story expansion, which will be coming to the game in August.

Announced when Act One was released in November 2025, Ambrosia Sky originally had three acts planned to tell its story; this was later amended to two.

A release date was then revealed earlier this year, with players being able to pick up the second act of the story as a free update on August 6.

Sitting at 91% positive reviews on Steam at the moment, the next update to Ambrosia Sky is expected to close out the story which began in Act One.

In a hands-off virtual preview GAMINGbible attended, we got to see a few snippets of some early stages from the second act.

At this point in the story, the corruption has spread, and Dalia is closing in on the truth behind the disaster affecting the Cluster, as well as finding her ex-girlfriend Maeve, whom she sought out at the beginning of Act One.

The hands-off demo showed some of the game’s new zero-gravity environments, in which Dalia can combine the tools at her disposal with these gravitational anomalies to solve puzzles, accessing locked-down areas or cleaning up pockets of fungus to ensure safe passage.

One particularly striking level added in Act Two is an area on the outside of the Cluster, which Dalia can explore in zero gravity. It’s a pretty large environment to explore, where the player needs to reroute power to open a door by linking up different electrical grids.

It’s an incredibly impressive space, and Soft Rains has taken great care to add little narrative details which bring the colony to life, revealing snippets of other stories that have occurred alongside yours. Even on the colony’s exterior, seeing how the fungus has spread and unlocking the new ways of exploring these environments shows that Soft Rains has dedicated a lot of time to making these spaces feel authentic to the setting.

It Feels Right To Split Ambrosia Sky's Story In Half Like This

Soft Rains’ Kait Tremblay and Joel Burgess say that they found it “empowering” to split the structure of the game’s narrative into two distinct acts released a time apart, adding that moving from the original plan of three acts brought some constraints in having to decide which planned elements to keep, and which to leave behind.

However, there’s no denying that Ambrosia Sky benefits from this structure, as the development of Act Two has also allowed Soft Rains to introduce new gameplay features to the game.

In addition to the new story content and locations, Act Two will also introduce fresh exo-fungus types you can harvest, as well as a reworked progression system with new upgrades.

Although we’ve only seen a small portion of Ambrosia Sky’s Act Two, the second half of the game is expected to be around the same size as Act One. On average, Soft Rains estimates a five-hour playtime for the first act, but adds that more hours can be added if you revisit locations to finish cleaning them up.

Therefore, the final game should speed up to about 10–12 hours of gameplay, with more time added on if you want to finish everything.

Ambrosia Sky: Act Two will release as a free update on August 6, 2026.
