If you’re in need of something to play, you can secure a highly rated sci-fi game for free via PC storefront Steam, but you only have a couple of days to do so.
Developed by Pilgrim Adventures and published by GrabTheGames, Sentience: The Android’s Tale is a “choice-based narrative adventure game”.
“You can remember nothing before this moment. Your existence begins with a keystroke followed by the flick of a switch. Electrical power streams into your neural network, and you are alive,” teases the very mysterious synopsis.
Within the game, you’ll interact with “forgotten pioneers”. These 24 colonists are stationed on a borderworld known as Akritas.

You’ll “get to know their various stories and backgrounds, obey their commands, and earn their trust (or not, as the case may be)”.
All major decisions are made by you, the player, but “freedom of choice does not come without consequence, for humans or robots”.
“Will you be an obedient servant or plant the seeds of chaos?”
It sounds as if the plot centres around artificial intelligence but in the traditional sci-fi sense that would’ve been around in 2017, predating chatbot nonsense.
There are a dozen possible endings where every major character can either perish or survive based on your actions.
There are also plenty of mysteries to discover on Akritas with Sentience: The Android’s Tale, taking inspiration from classic point and click adventure games.

It’s perhaps also important to clarify that the game supports both mouse and keyboard as well as controllers.
The base version of the game typically retails for £4.29 or just under $5. It’s currently 100% free though, but only until 23 April at 6pm BST.
Once claimed, it’s yours to keep forever, as long as you add it to your Steam account before that deadline.
Sentience: The Android’s Tale is a game that’s well-loved by players. It currently sits at a Very Positive score of 87% on Steam.
“So this game really surprised me. I ended up enjoying the story and finishing the game in one sitting. Unexpected gem,” wrote one satisfied player.
Another added, “This is one of the only games I've ever finished and then immediately played through again, making different choices. A lot of games claim to let you make your own choices about how the story will go; I think this one goes further than most in how true that really is. Great script and solid characters, as well.”
Very high praise.
You should be able to complete Sentience: The Android’s Tale in under two hours, so it’s not a big strain on your backlog unless, of course, you replay it to get all of those various endings.
Head over to Steam and hit that download button.
