'The Batman' Sequel On Shaky Ground In Spite Of Box Office Success

A new report claims that Warner Bros. hasn't given a sequel to The Batman the green light yet.

Earlier this year, we saw the release of The Batman, and it’s safe to say that it was a massive hit with fans. Robert Pattinson’s first outing as Batman offered something pretty different to the Caped Crusader’s usual escapades, but its critic reviews hailed it as one of the best DC movies ever, and with over $770 million raked in at the worldwide box office, there’s no denying its success.

While you're here, be sure to take a look at this incredible deleted scene from The Batman below.

Despite that though, a follow-up movie still hasn’t been given the green light by Warner Bros., Variety reports. Reportedly, while director Matt Reeves is already working on a sequel, which would see Pattinson reprise his role, the film is still years away from release.

Understandably, details of what this unconfirmed sequel would be about are pretty much non-existent, but back in February, before the first film came out, Pattinson revealed that he’d love to see the Court of Owls involved in a future film. The underground organised crime group, who influence Gotham behind the scenes, have been known to kidnap children and train them to be assassins, which is pretty dark.

“I’d love to do something like Court of Owls,” Pattinson told Den of Geek at the time. “There are elements of The Batman which are kind of horror and I think it really feels quite new for Batman.”

For now, we’ll just have to sit tight and wait for any official details about a sequel - there’s no doubt that fans would be excited to see Pattinson to reprise his role.
