It’s been a long time coming, but Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin have finished writing the script for The Batman 2, which will once again feature Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight.
Announcing the completion on Twitter after months of fans complaining that the duo were taking their time to complete the screenplay, we’re now one step closer to the film.
The Batman was released in 2022, taking the beloved hero into a new era, and it was met with critical acclaim and love from the fans.
It’s going to be quite some time until we find out which villains Batman will face in the sequel, and whether we’ll see any other familiar characters, though I’m sure James Gunn will start teasing things soon.

The Batman 2 won’t be part of Gunn’s DCU, but the director of the upcoming Superman is overseeing all things DC and will likely have already read the script.
Of course, fans are losing their minds after seeing the progress made by the writing team.
“Let’s F**KING GOOOO! This is gonna be generational,” exclaimed a very excited fan.
Another Twitter user jumped in to say, “I can’t wait for Robert to play Batman again!”

Unsurprisingly, there are many in the replies to the news trashing the announcement because apparently some people just don’t know good comic book films if they slapped them in the face.
Thankfully, there are some genuine fans celebrating, with one saying, “This movie is keeping me alive.”
Some are reading into the exact phrasing used by Matt Reeves in his tweet, as one fan comments, “HMMM I GUESS WHO BATMANS PARTNER IN CRIME IS, MAYBE YOU’D DESCRIBE IT AS A SIDEKICK, WONDER WHO IT IS, BOY I WONDER WHOS GONNA BE IN THIS.”
Is the “partners in crime” a clue to seeing Robin step into the sequel? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
