Last month, thanks to eagle-eyed gamers spotting some new ESRB ratings, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before we’d be seeing The Ascent arrive on PS4 and PS5. Well, that time has come.
In case you were unfamiliar, The Ascent is a cyberpunk-themed shooter RPG, which you can play both solo, or co-op with friends. Nothing better than a cyberpunk-themed game, eh? Well, hm. Anyway, this one first released as an exclusive for Xbox consoles last July, as an undeniably impressive debut from Swedish dev team Neon Giant.
Be sure to check out the trailer for The Ascent below.
Now, as reported by Eurogamer, it’s been officially confirmed that the game will be launching on Sony consoles next month, on 24 March. Nice!

“We've been blown away by how amazing the response to The Ascent as been so far on Xbox and PC, so we are thrilled to be bringing the game to a new audience of PlayStation players,” said Arcade Berg, co-founder and creative director of Neon Giant. “We started making The Ascent because we love making games and we want to share what we've made with as many gamers as possible in the hope that people enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
That’s not all - for any PC players, there’s a brand new DLC pack available as of now (dubbed the Cyber Warrior DLC), alongside a New Game+ mode (which fear not, is available for free). The DLC consists of some new weapons and armour, and New Game+ introduces even harder enemies, along with new abilities, and a higher level cap for both characters and weapons, so you can grow to even greater heights than ever before.
Unfortunately for PlayStation users, there won’t be cross-platform co-op available, so you won’t be able to join in with Xbox friends. PlayStation seems eager to rival Xbox at every turn lately - it’s also been announced that next month, PlayStation Now will be seeing its very first day-one release added to the service. Which, y’know, Game Pass has been doing for quite some time now, but better late than never, right?
