PlayStation gamers are furious, heartbroken even, that an exclusive series may have been abandoned forever.
From God of War to Gran Turismo and Uncharted, to name a few, there are loads of flagship brands on PlayStation that continue to stand the test of time.
For each new PlayStation generation that arrives, fans look forward to what adventures await the likes of Kratos, Nathan Drake, and friends.

However, there is another popular PlayStation brand with a lovable mascot that fans may never see again, at least when it comes to starring in a new game. That mascot in question is Sackboy of the LittleBigPlanet series.
Recently, an eagle-eyed fan noticed that Sackboy had been edited out of a PlayStation introduction, the clip that we’d see when firing up a first-party game. That's not a good sign for the little fella.
The last time that Sackboy starred in a standalone title is the fantastic platforming spin-off, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, released in 2020 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
As for a main entry in the series, that arrived in 2014 with LittleBigPlanet 3 on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, and fans are eager for its return.

“Why did PlayStation abandon Sackboy?” asked Redditor CynicalRaps. “Sony intended for Sackboy to be a mascot alongside other heavy hitters.”
“I am Astro Bot,” replied SolarFazes, suggesting that LittleBigPlanet was cancelled in favour of the charming robot series. But as many other members of the thread pointed out, why can’t both exist?
“I love all the LittleBigPlanet games, but I think it just comes down to that people don't generally want to spend time making things, or play user-created content. Which is also why Dreams didn't do that well,” suggested MountainMuffin1980.
“Tell this to the InFamous fans still waiting for a remaster/sequel/anything. Also, the Killzone fans,” exclaimed VirtuaFighter6.

“Sackboy will never die, he will live in our hearts forever,” declared Physical-Result7378.
Hopefully, it won't be the end of Sackboy forever, whether we get LittleBigPlanet 4 or Sackboy: A Big Adventure 2. We’ll have our fingers crossed.
