GTA VI fans are saying “Holy s***” after learning about this real-time gameplay feature that leaked on retailers following an official Rockstar Games announcement.
Finally, after years of waiting, pre-orders for the highly anticipated GTA VI finally went live this week. However, that wasn't without controversy, after it was revealed that the physical editions at retail will be a code-in-a-box.
Understandably, that rattled the many feathers of the Grand Theft Auto community. Thankfully, it seems that a physical edition will be coming after the digital launch of GTA VI.

Recently, courtesy of a retail leak shared on Reddit, we’ve learned of an awesome new real-time gameplay feature of GTA VI that centres around in-game social media content going viral. This news follows another GTA VI retail leak suggesting that its map will be the largest in the series history.
“Before it blows up, there is a report about going out from some GTA pages. Amazon [Brazil] may have leaked some GTA VI features, but I can’t confirm if a third party has made this edit. It is an official listing though,” shared Redditor God_Emperor__Doom.
The apparent retail listing mentions details we already know, such as the two playable protagonists, Jason and Lucia, the GTA VI pre-order content, as well as the aforementioned code-in-a-box and the large Vice City map.
Some of the other features mentioned are probably more intriguing than most. Such as “NPCs with their own routines,” and how the “dynamic climate” might impact the environments of Vice City on the fly, such as instant weather changes.
That being said, it’s the “integrated social networks” feature that perhaps garners even more intrigue. “Watch viral videos, follow influencers and discover world events through the game's mobile phone,” the listing reads.
Having a mechanic in GTA VI that allows events to go viral in-game, especially when it comes to real-time content, makes sense. After all, in the two released trailers for GTA VI so far, there is a heavy focus on the residents of Vice City recording social content on phones. Now it seems that particular trailer content was hinting at a greater purpose not seen in the series before.
“Why doom scroll irl, when we can doom scroll in GTA VI, haha,” joked Zestyclose_Pop_9435.
“It’s gonna be hard to exaggerate modern social media; it’s already such a slop fest,” replied Spiritual-Shirt-6027.
“Literally anything they do regarding making fun of social media will not be a stretch at all. It might even become a moment like where a circlejerk sub gets out-jerked,” added FloatLikeAButterfree.
“Holy s***. The AI stuff R* patented a long time ago is gonna be real. What a huge upgrade from RDR2, which was already pretty awesome,” said Veriac, referring to the advanced NPC behaviours, a feature that should not be overlooked.
I’m sure we all share the same sentiment, that we can’t wait to find out first-hand how all of these gameplay features will work in GTA VI, as well as those we currently don't even know about. However, we should take all unconfirmed leaks with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC port hasn't been officially announced yet.
