Rockstar Games has dropped the big news of when you’ll be able to download GTA VI, ready for when pre-orders officially go live tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the big day that Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting for: Rockstar Games officially opens up the pre-orders for the massively anticipated arrival of GTA VI.
Sure, online retailers have offered pre-orders for the physical copy of GTA VI for a while now, but until tomorrow, those pre-orders weren't actually able to allocate stock. It’s more of registering your interest than anything else.
Ahead of the GTA VI pre-orders officially going live tomorrow, Rockstar Games has not only let us know what’s in each version of GTA VI, but we now know when we can pre-download the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Rockstar Games has confirmed that those who pre-order the digital version of GTA VI on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Marketplace will be able to pre-download the game starting on 12 November 2026, a week before its big launch. So, that should be more than enough time to get ready for when GTA VI is playable at the turn of midnight on consoles.

It seems so. According to the press release provided by Rockstar Games, physical copies of GTA VI will include a download code inside the box so that this version of the game can also begin its pre-download on 12 November.
Sadly, this code in the box does not exist just for the pre-download; it's the only way you can play GTA VI. It was confirmed in the Rockstar Games press release that "A disc will not be included in the box." For gamers who love to collect physical media, I assume this news will not be well-received and understandably so.
"Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida, forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive," reads the synopsis of the game.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC port hasn't been announced yet. However, much like most titles from Rockstar Games, the arrival of GTA VI on PC is about as inevitable as Thanos. Of course, when that information drops, we'll be sure to let you know right away.
