PlayStation Gamers Furious as Sony Blocks Popular Feature

PlayStation users have been left disappointed after it was revealed that a popular new Fortnite feature will not arrive on the console platform.

Yesterday, Fortnite unveiled a brand-new top-up feature and as a regular Fortnite player, I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to see this announced.

Up until now, Fortnite players had to buy V-Bucks, the game’s virtual currency, in bundles with 1,000 V-Bucks being the smallest amount on offer; that would cost you £6.99 which is pretty pricey.

It’s especially frustrating when you may only need 100 or so more to get the item from the Item Shop that it is that you want.

Well, things are changing from 14 October as Epic Games has unveiled an Exact Amount offer, allowing users to top-up by how much they need for a certain purchase.

For example, if you have 400 V-Bucks but you want to buy a 500 V-Buck item, you’ll be able to simply purchase the additional 100 that you need which is certain to save users from overspending.

This is available in increments of 50, with all player balances being rounded up to the nearest 50 from 10 October to help make this all a bit cleaner.

We won’t know exactly how the pricing looks until we see this Exact Amount mechanic in practice.

For now, all we have is that 400 V-Bucks will seemingly set you back $3.99.

The feature is also coming to Rocket League and Fall Guys and will be available for Xbox, Nintendo, PC, Android, iPhones, and iPads.

You’ve likely noticed that I didn’t say PlayStation.

For some reason, Exact Amount is not currently launching on PlayStation with no reason given for its lack of availability on affected consoles.

The problem could lie with Epic Games or there could be something PlayStation isn’t happy with, but the bottom line is that PlayStation gamers will be missing out.

I’m a PlayStation Fortnite player so I’m disappointed - and plenty of fellow fans feel much the same way.

“What sad news,” wrote Twitter/X user 0xKrop.

“Just big and greedy,” added selinameyersgf.

“L Sony as usual,” remarked another user.

“This is so unfair to PlayStation users,” said pakistan_proudi.

Epic has reiterated that it's working hard to bring the feature to all platforms, so hopefully we’ll see this situation change in the future.

I can’t imagine that whatever is blocking the feature is permanent or long-term.
