The leaves are falling, the hot chocolate is being brewed and Steam is giving people the chance to try out hundreds of games without spending a penny.

It is time for the Steam Next Fest 2023 which gives PC gamers the opportunity to access demos of some of the titles dropping over the next year. Running from 9 October to 16 October, the demos of hundreds of games will be available for free. Not only that but there will also be developer livestreams airing throughout as well as the chance to ask the creators some of your burning questions. If you enjoy a demo, you can now wishlist them as a way of showing your support for the titles.

As I said, the Next Fest event has a lot of games but let’s take a look at some that could very much be considered bangers.

Check out the Europa demo trailer below!

Jusant by Don’t Nod is an upcoming epic climbing adventure which is set to release at the end of October. The story is set in the home of a lost civilisation and you are tasked with climbing an impossibly tall tower. Reaching the top is your only goal and the demo will show you the events of the first hour of the game, so you only have a short amount of time to get familiar with your climbing tools and the tactical controls.

Fans of Studio Ghibli will want to check out Europa, a whimsical adventure game which follows the story of a robot boy named Zee. Tasked with exploring the island of Europa, Zee finds himself in a land of mystical meadows, rolling hills and glassy lakes but underneath all this lays a mysterious past. With fun traversal including the use of jetpacks, you will be able to take on the platforming puzzles in fun and inventive ways. Europa releases in 2024 but the first hour is available to play on Steam now.

Another game which is a bit too relatable is Exhausted Man by Candleman Games. Set to release in 2024, the absurd comedy puzzler tells the story of a person who is exhausted but isn’t allowed to sleep until they have completed their tasks (I told you it was too relatable). With the person too tired to even stand up, you must complete the tasks whilst slumped on the ground which is easier said than done when you’re tasked with drinking a cup of coffee. Expect a whole lot of hilarious shenanigans with this one.

That is just a look at some of the games available to try out now so make sure you don’t miss out.
