A free taster for an upcoming PlayStation 5 game has been added to the PlayStation Store, with many five star user ratings already coming in for the game on the store.
The Crimson Maid is a brand new game published by FMV and adventure game enthusiasts Wales Interactive, with What Have You Done Father developer Darkania Works at the helm.
It’s an adventure game played from first-person perspective in the same vein as Darkania’s earlier titles, which is slated for release later this month.
However, if you’d like to get in on the game ahead of launch, a free demo is now available to download on the PlayStation Store for PS5. It was also previously made available for PC users to pick up on Steam.

While the demo has an average rating of 3.54 stars, exactly half of the ratings are locked in at 5 stars, indicating that half of all demo players enjoyed it enough to recommend to others.
The demo features several chapters from the full game, with players getting to experience up to Chapter 4.
Regarding the demo’s content, Darkania says that “While the first two chapters were great for mood setting and to get an initial idea of how the game feels and plays, the new ones are far more representative to the full game.”
With a wide amount of content available too, it should give you a chance to experience a large chunk of the story, as well as some of the puzzles and game mechanics that are included in the final release.

The Crimson Maid will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on July 14, 2026.
Here's a trailer for the game if you haven't yet seen anything about it, showcasing some of the characters and settings that appear in the full release.
Overall, it has the kind of quality that you've come to expect from previous Darkania Works releases, which the developer calls a "compelling tale of romance, mystery and murder."
“Estranged for a couple of years, a young man rushes back to his childhood home,” reads the blurb on The Crimson Maid.
“Dismayed by the news of his father losing his sight and inching closer to his demise, Marius, a priest in training, suspends his long studies at the seminary to be close in his final days to the man who taught him dignity and stalwartness.
“Under the gloom of impending death, the oldest son of honorable Leon Rosenthal can’t conceive the encroaching events that his arrival will unfold, equally exhilarating and petrifying.”
“Play as Marius as he returns to his childhood home in an attempt to reconnect with his ailing father, stern mother and overwhelmed younger brother. Much to your surprise, your household now employs an alluring young maid, Irina, who charms you from the first sight. But your blossoming romance will soon be tested as a shocking death shakes the feeble balance of this noble family.”
