Four of Steam's best games are free to download this month

Smooth and Steamy

Free games are always a good time, and PC gamers definitely get a better selection than most.

While PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass certainly have plenty to offer, anyone with a PC can dive into a multitude of different subscription services and platforms that offer free games so frequently that anyone would suspect they're trying to trick us with cursed titles. No curses yet, though. Just lots and lots of free games.

Starting from July, you can actually get hold of four of the very best games Steam has to offer (although somewhat paradoxically they're not free on Steam). It's a great variety, too, with titles that range from more relaxed crafting-focused affairs to head-scratching puzzle adventures.

These four games will be available as free downloads for Prime Gaming members (that's anyone with an Amazon Prime account). Starting July 6 you can get your hands on the brilliant Cook, Serve, Delicious 3, a kind of hybrid of Cooking Mama and Overcooked that currently boasts a 10/10 rating on Steam.

Hungry for more? Anyone looking to scratch that Stardew Valley itch would do well to check out Wytchwood, a 9/10 rated Steam game with a gorgeous storybook aesthetic, charming characters, and a deeply engaging gameplay loop that'll keep you hooked for weeks.

You'll also be able to check out Nairi: Tower of Shirin, another 9/10 that bills itself as a family friendly adventure set in a Ghibli inspired world. I can't say I've ever heard of it before now, but it does look super cute.

Finally there's Lunar Axe, a gothic adventure game with stunning hand-drawn visuals. It's yet another 9/10, so you're absolutely spoiled for quality this month.

All four games will be available for Prime members to download between July 6 and July 27, so keep checking back to make sure you don't miss out. They might not be the kind of games you usually play, but sometimes stepping outside of your comfort zone helps you discover the best titles.
